Just saw it this weekend and I agree complteley with your negative assessment. It's a terrible movie, a truly superficial conception executed terribly. The songs are just the worst I have ever heard in a musical film - and I saw Cats.

As a Spanish speaker I was struck also by the fact that the dialogue in Spanish is just inhumanly wooden, as if translated by Google translate. The song lyrics are worst.

It's so unspeakably awful that I'm certain it will do very well indeed in the Oscars. But it's going to open next week in Mexico, and it's quite possible the roars of disapproval from there might even register slightly among the Hollywood elite. Perhaps their nannies and gardeners might inform them about how offensively bad it is?

Let’s hope the nannies swing the Oscar Race. Yeah, I’m still at a loss why this film is being revered across the board when both Mexicans and Trans people don’t even like it along with people who follow the Oscar Race. Every year I find there’s always a handful of films in contention that I find awful and don’t understand. This is one of them.
